Dukha Paswan, 46, is a native of village Bhairopatti in the Darbhanga District of Bihar. His meager income from a rented rickshaw was insufficient to provide even two square meals to his family of 6 members. Impoverished and hungry, their daughter’s marriage remained a distant dream.

Today, with a rickshaw provided to him on loan from the project, he earns an average of Rs.70 per day. His daughter is married. He has made a small savings of Rs.2000. nutritious meals and medical cares are now affordable to his family. He too has a dream – a brick house for his family.

This small step has to a large extent helped the family escape exploitation by the rich landlords.
